Aside from its updated name, the second iteration of the Nike Zoom Vaporfly features these technical upgrades, making the shoe Nike’s fastest shoe ever.

  • Vaporweave, a material construction debuting on the upper, is lighter than Nike Flyknit, breathable and — critically — absorbs far less water from sweat or rain, so it stays airy and dry over the course of a marathon.
  • The laces are slightly offset to alleviate pressure along the sensitive part of the foot. (It’s a look Mo Farah said he was very into).
  • A thin foam pod inside the heel keeps the Achilles happy as the miles add up.
  • There’s more Nike ZoomX foam in the midsole, which has been scientifically proven in Nike’s Sport Research Lab to further increase energy return.
  • That foam has been redistributed to decrease the offset from 11mm to 8mm to provide a more stable feeling and help maximize energy return at the critical toe-off.
  • Designers merged Kirui, Kipchoge and Farah’s custom traction patterns to improve the forefoot grip so the shoe handles better in wet weather.
  • Contoured treads with deep grooves on the outsole facilitate smoother movement during turns.

Vaporfly Next%: What’s returning

  • Still embedded within the foam is a full-length curved carbon fiber plate that increases stiffness to provide a sensation of propulsion.
  • The shoe’s weight stays the same — even with 15 percent more foam.

When will it be available:

Reebok, we have so many questions. Sure the beat is catchy and everyone would definitely watch it a few times – but… what and why?

Few of the many confused reactions include, “Had to see the full commercial to gain context on what exactly was going on. I still have no clue” and the simple, “What the hell.”

“The conventional needs a shock to the system. The same old, same old needs some shaking up. Be the thing that no one sees coming. Sport the Unexpected.”

Reebok’s comment

Yep the system has been shocked.

The creative agency Venables Bell & Partners are behind the Reebok X Grudge commercial, with Prettybird handling the Production. The advert was produced by Julie Sawyer and directed by Tom Noakes.

Here’s the video. Enjoy!

The backing track is a tribal anthem called Prayer Hands by A-Trak & YehMe2. Seems apt, as some would be praying for sleep tonight after watching that commercial. #YehMe2.

When you think of Umbro, you usually think of football. The brand’s known for its football kits, footwear, equipment and footballs as well. While Nike owned Umbro from 2007–2012, it now sites under the American brand management company Iconix Brand Group.

For the less-woke sneakerheads here, Umbro were also massively into sneaker manufacturing and now, the 95-year-old football brand, has turned back time and launched a collection of iconic footwear from the 90s.

Called the Archive Research Project (ARP), the collection features three iconic football training styles; NEPTUNE, RUN M and EXERT MAX referencing contemporary sneaker trends.

Umbro’s NEPTUNE stays closest to its original silhouette featuring a nostalgic speed lacing system and mesh panels.

The sneaker’s colourways combine vermillion, blazing yellow, Ibiza blue and nimbus cloud.

A heavy logo presence includes an oversized black Umbro double diamond on the white outsole, brand logo across the side of the upper and an embroidered white logo on the tongue.

Combining the aesthetic of the original sneaker with modern technology, NEPTUNE is updated with a thicker injected phylon sole unit creating a striking style.

Umbro RUN M

The RUN M features a jagged and chunky phylon sole unit and the design is a literal interpretation of the original RUNNER M, first introduced in 1997, and was designed specifically for footballers to wear whilst training.

The updated style features trend-inspired colourways including a tonal tan and clean all white, and two classic colourways of sporty Ibiza blue and blazing yellow.

All colourways include a performance mesh upper, oversized outsole and repeat branding across the sneaker. RUN M also features bold panelling details that wrap and support the midfoot and forefoot as well as creating an on-trend silhouette.

The EXERT MAX is the sneaker that’s aimed at the fashion-conscious. Once again, featuring a chunky, aggressively textured white sole with a soft contrasting upper, the distinctive outsole draws inspiration from an archive style originally developed as a training shoe for aerobic exercise.

The sneaker is constructed using a breathable performance mesh upper featuring a combination of zigzag leather and suede panels.

The EXERT MAX is available in white, grey, fair aqua or black colourways with matching monochromatic laces.

Speaking about the collection, Tom Fonti Grzelak, the Head of Umbro Middle East explained that heritage and revival is a big trend.

“Umbro is the most authentic football brand in the world and are covering the full spectrum of football related products. The ARP collection is a great example of how we engage with the football inspired lifestyle consumer in the Middle East.”

adidas Middle East have yet to confirm pricing and availibility in the region.

adidas Consortium brings together partners, retailers and collectives who exemplify a unique, fearless approach to collaboration. Each new partnership offers up a creative new take on the iconic styles.

While this latest release diverges from the usual adidas Consortium way of working, in that it was created in-house by adidas, the final outcome was only made possible – and elevated to such great heights – due to the input of former adidas Director of Footwear Creation, Jacques Chassaing.

Jacques was the designer responsible for one of the most iconic adidas lines of all time – the ZX running shoe series – which utilized an equally enduring technology also designed by Jacques, the adidas Torsion system.

adidas ZX 10000C

The sleek craftsmanship of the ZX range – which originally ran between 1984 and 1989 and was later in 1991 replaced by the equally as iconic Equipment range – ZX embodied adidas’ commitment to high-performance functionality, with the Torsion system playing a key role. By using a TPU arch to bridge the heel and forefoot it allows the front and rear of the foot to operate and adapt to surfaces independently, offering high degrees of support and stability.

adidas ZX 10000C

The ZX 10000C is the long awaited answer to many collectors question ‘what happened after ZX  9000?’

The ZX  10000 C retains the Torsion system that remains a proud part of adidas’ performance capabilities to this day, in a shoe that at first glance reads like a never before seen model from the original ZX archives that has only just been unearthed. Its aqua, orange and neutral coloring inspires nostalgia for a very specific era of performance footwear, utilized across a diverse blend of natural and technical fabrications that include mesh underlays, webbed Three Stripes, premium suede overlays and reinforced TPU on the ghilly and heel.

adidas Consortium ZX 10000C retails at $159.95

adidas ZX 10000C

  • – Mesh underlays
  • – Synthetic suede overlays
  • – Webbed 3 stripes
  • – TPU ghilly
  • – TPU heel counter
  • – PU midsole
  • – Rubber outsole
